How it works
What this is
Picket Line is an independent public tracker of industrial action in Australia. It follows each dispute from the Fair Work Commission's protected action ballot through to its outcome.
The statuses
- Ballot ordered: the FWC has ordered a protected action ballot.
- Voting: employees are voting.
- Result: the ballot result is published.
- Action reported: a source says action has taken place.
- Ended: the action has stopped.
- Agreement: an enterprise agreement was approved, or not reached.
A successful ballot only authorises action. Entries stay marked "action not confirmed" until a linked source says it happened.
Where the information comes from
Ballot results come from the Fair Work Commission's published records, summarised in our own words with a link to the original. Reports of action and agreements come from union and employer statements and news, each linked.
